Document Legalization at Spain’s Embassy in Tehran: Appointments, Translation, and Fees
Following an inquiry by the Iran–Spain Joint Chamber of Commerce to the Consular Section of Spain’s Embassy in Tehran, the Chamber has shared guidance on requesting an appointment and submitting documents for legalization. The notice covers appointment requests, authorized representatives, document limits and the special procedure for national visa applicants with a BLS appointment.
Requesting a legalization appointment
The applicant must request the appointment personally, using their own email address and providing their identity details. Requests submitted by third parties are not accepted.
Consular email: emb.teheran.sc@maec.es
Applying in person or through an authorized representative
Documents may be submitted by the applicant or an authorized representative. The Chamber’s notice says the representative must present an official power of attorney translated into Spanish and certified by Iran’s Ministry of Justice and Ministry of Foreign Affairs.
The Embassy’s official guidance specifies a Spanish translation and legalization by Iran’s Ministry of Foreign Affairs. Since the two texts differ on the Justice Ministry certification, applicants should confirm this requirement with the Consular Section before attending.
Document limit, fees, and translation requirements
- A maximum of five documents per person may be legalized at each appointment.
- The fee is five euros per document, payable in cash and in euros.
- Documents must be translated into Spanish by sworn translators listed by the Embassy.
- According to the Chamber’s notice, the translated documents must first be certified by Iran’s Ministry of Justice and Ministry of Foreign Affairs.
The Embassy’s official guidance also asks applicants to provide evidence of the reason for legalization and a completed and signed “legalization or certification data” form. Before attending, check the Spanish Embassy’s official legalization guidance and the relevant form.
Special procedure for national visa applicants with a BLS appointment
Applicants with a BLS appointment to submit a national visa application who need document legalization may go directly to the Embassy on the day immediately after their BLS appointment, between 12:00 and 13:00. They do not need to book an Embassy appointment or send an email for this visit. This procedure is limited to the day immediately following the BLS appointment; legalization requests on other dates are not accepted under this procedure.
Applicants should bring a printout of their BLS appointment and their correspondence with the Consular Section.
