Madrid, 1 October 2026 – As Spain prepares to host the 30th Ibero-American Summit, it is holding a series of political, economic and technology meetings. The agenda ranges from artificial intelligence and digital transformation to agriculture, transport and global value chains.
12th Ibero-American Parliamentary Forum opens in Madrid
On Thursday, 1 October, the 12th Ibero-American Parliamentary Forum was opened by King Felipe VI at Spain’s Congress of Deputies. Over two days, members of parliament from Ibero-American countries are discussing:
- The impact of artificial intelligence
- Disinformation and polarization
- Gender equality
- The role of parliamentary diplomacy
Spain at the helm of the Pro Tempore Secretariat
The forum is part of a broader programme during Spain’s term holding the Secretaría Pro Tempore, the rotating secretariat of the Ibero-American Conference. The role is not permanent; it rotates periodically among member countries.
At the end of its current term, Spain will host the 30th Ibero-American Summit in Madrid on 4–5 November 2026.
