Exploring new paths for economic cooperation and introducing the Iran–Spain Joint Chamber of Commerce Service Desk in Spain

In line with strengthening economic ties between Iran and Spain, developing support infrastructure for businesses, and advancing the new programs of the Iran–Spain Joint Chamber of Commerce, Eng. Zahra Fallah, Vice President of the Chamber and Head of the Women’s Committee, together with Eng. Oria Siahpoush, Secretary of the Women’s Committee and Chamber representative in Spain, met with H.E. Dr. Reza Zabib, Ambassador of Iran in Madrid.

At the beginning of the meeting, a commemorative gift was presented on behalf of the Chamber in appreciation of Dr. Zabib’s efforts and support throughout his term of service.

The meeting aimed to introduce the Chamber’s new capacities and programs, present the Women’s Committee activities, outline the Service Desk as an operational structure in Spain, and convey concerns raised by Chamber members and business operators. Both sides stressed the need for more coherent communication channels among the private sector, the Embassy, and economic institutions of the two countries.

Women’s Committee: a platform for empowering women in the economy

Eng. Zahra (Sara) Fallah presented the Committee’s goals and programs and emphasized building a professional network among women entrepreneurs, executives, and business actors in Iran and Spain. She noted that the Committee seeks to go beyond networking and act as a platform for empowerment, experience-sharing, cooperation, and showcasing women’s economic capacities.

She also highlighted Spain’s strengths in networking, supporting women entrepreneurs, and promoting equal opportunities, and expressed the Committee’s readiness to draw on successful Spanish models.

Introducing the Iran–Spain Chamber Service Desk

Eng. Oria Siahpoush then presented the Service Desk initiative. She explained that the Desk is designed as a specialized contact point in Spain to guide, support, and facilitate the affairs of Iranian and Spanish companies.

As the Chamber’s operational office in Spain, the Service Desk will act as a bridge among:

• Iranian companies seeking to enter or expand in the Spanish market
• Iranian companies already based in Spain
• Spanish companies and organizations interested in cooperation with Iran

According to Ms. Siahpoush, companies entering new markets need accurate information, reliable partners, and specialized guidance. The Service Desk aims to address part of these needs in areas such as trade, legal affairs, arbitration, partner matching, and opportunity identification.

Ambassador’s welcome: the “missing link” in economic cooperation

Dr. Reza Zabib welcomed the initiative and described the Service Desk as an effective step toward stronger economic connectivity—calling it the “missing link” in Iran–Spain economic relations. He also expressed the Embassy’s readiness to cooperate within existing capacities.

It was agreed that coordination would continue with Mr. Farahani, head of the Consular and Commercial Section of the Iranian Embassy in Spain, to exchange information and strengthen ties between the Chamber and the Embassy.

Conveying members’ concerns

Members’ challenges and concerns were also shared with the Ambassador, including operational procedures, consular matters, the need for clearer communication channels, better access to information, and more transparent follow-up paths for companies. Both sides stressed continuous dialogue between the private sector and official representations.

Proposal to introduce the Women’s Committee via webinars and professional content

Dr. Zabib proposed promoting the Women’s Committee through modern tools such as introductory webinars, specialized brochures, short videos, and multimedia content. It was agreed that the Committee would prepare a professional introduction package and use online platforms to expand its network.

Priority sectors for cooperation

In the final part of the meeting, priority areas with stronger cooperation potential were discussed, including pharmaceuticals, medical equipment, health technologies, and humanitarian cooperation. Both sides also emphasized accurate opportunity assessment, reliable partners, legal and commercial compliance, and clear, sustainable cooperation pathways.
